Fans of gripping mystery dramas are in for a treat this weekend as a thrilling series featuring an EastEnders legend becomes available to stream for free. Little Disasters, previously described as a "complex psychological thriller with a mystery at its heart," arrives on Channel 5 tomorrow (June 14), having originally launched on Paramount+ last May.
Star-Studded Cast
The series is led by Jo Joyner, best known for her iconic role as Tanya Branning in EastEnders, alongside Hollywood actress Diane Kruger. The cast also includes Shelley Conn, Emily Taaffe, Ben Bailey Smith, Patrick Baladi, Stephen Campbell Moore, and JJ Feild.
Plot Overview
Adapted from Sarah Vaughan's bestselling novel, Little Disasters explores the decade-long friendship between four women—Jess (Diane Kruger), Liz (Jo Joyner), Charlotte (Shelley Conn), and Mel (Emily Taaffe)—who were brought together as expectant mothers with little in common except their due dates. They have supported each other through motherhood, but their bond is tested when Jess brings her baby daughter Betsy to the hospital with a head injury she cannot explain. Liz, an A&E doctor and close friend, faces the agonizing decision of whether to call social services, setting off a chain of events that threatens their friendship and families.
Why It's Worth Watching
Jo Joyner shared her motivation for taking the role, saying the show tackles a topic rarely seen on television: postnatal OCD. She said, "I know somebody who suffered with postnatal OCD and I had only recently found out about it myself. So, I thought it was a really great topic to explore." She added, "Any kind of postnatal depression must be horrendous... I think that was another brilliant thing to bring up but also serves well for a thriller."
Fans have already praised the series, with one commenting, "Worth the binge! #littledisasters," and another adding, "#littledisasters is everything I needed…" A third viewer remarked, "Good show, oh my days, the suspense got me."
Where to Watch
The six-part series remains available on Paramount+ but will also broadcast on Channel 5 starting this Sunday, June 14, at 9pm. Don't miss this binge-worthy thriller.
