Delta Goodrem in tears after family video on Strictly results

Delta Goodrem was moved to tears during the Strictly Come Dancing results show after receiving a surprise video message from her family in Australia. Presenters Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe returned on Sunday (October 11) to reveal which couples had progressed to next week's competition.

Top of the leaderboard

Pop star Delta and her professional partner Kai Widdrington sat at the top of the leaderboard for week three with an impressive 33 points out of 40. They were followed closely by Cach Mercer and Maddie Ingoldsby and Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita who shared second place with 31 points.

Delta and Kai were unsurprisingly amongst the first couples to discover they had avoided the dreaded dance-off and successfully advanced to the next round of the competition. The duo received the first nine of the series from Motsi Mabuse and eights from Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke for their Salsa to a medley of Always There by Jocelyn Brown, reports the Daily Star.

Emotional family message

Upon learning the positive news, Johannes presented Delta with a video message from her family members in Australia sending her "lots of love" and "all the best". The Eclipse hitmaker became tearful after her niece told her "we love your pretty dresses" and her nephew added "come on Auntie Delta, we love you".

Struggling to contain her emotions, Delta responded: "That's such a nice surprise" before adding: "That's so beautiful. I love my beautiful family, my babies."

Viewers stunned by Ian Wright revelation

Viewers at home were left stunned on Saturday (October 10) night after discovering that Shaun Wright-Phillips has a famous father. The 44 year old former professional footballer is the son of footballer and broadcaster Ian Wright.

Ian made a surprise appearance at rehearsals to visit Shaun and his dance partner Alexis Warr earlier in the week. Speaking to camera, the former Arsenal star said: "I thought that his moves were really good. Alexis is brilliant. I'm very proud of him because when he gets into that place when he has to focus on something he will be brilliant."

Following Ian's appearance on the BBC programme, viewers flocked to social media to express their astonishment. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one person wrote: "Had no idea he was Ian Wright's son." Another posted: "I'm sorry, Ian Wright is Shaun's dad? ? ! ? ! !". A third commented: "I did not realise Shaun's dad is Ian Wright." Someone else remarked: "Shaun being Ian Wright's son has made me feel really old." A fifth social media user stated: "Had no idea that Ian Wright was Shaun's dad, I had to Google it."

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday, October 17 at 6.15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
