David Beckham publicly reached out to his estranged eldest son, Brooklyn, in a heartfelt Father's Day tribute on Sunday, June 21. The 51-year-old football legend took to Instagram to share a series of family photos, including a throwback snap of himself with a young Brooklyn and a group shot featuring Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper. In the caption, Beckham wrote: "Being a dad is my most important job - I love you all and thank you mummy @victoriabeckham for giving me our beautiful family. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads around the world."
Victoria Beckham Joins in Tribute
Victoria Beckham also included Brooklyn in her own Father's Day tribute to David. The fashion designer posted an old family snapshot on Instagram showing David surrounded by all four of their children. Alongside the picture, she wrote: "David you truly are the best daddy. Your greatest achievement has always been our beautiful children and we love you so much. Happy Father's Day." The photo captured a happier family moment from a holiday, with Brooklyn pictured alongside his siblings despite the ongoing rift between him and his wife Nicola, and the Beckham family.
Brooklyn's Bombshell Disownment
Brooklyn had disowned his parents in a bombshell social media post earlier this year. In his statement, he wrote: "I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed." He accused his parents of controlling narratives in the press, describing their social media posts and family events as "performative" and "inauthentic." He further claimed that his parents tried to turn him against Nicola ahead of their 2022 wedding, attempted to force him to sign away the rights to his own name, and said Victoria had branded him "evil" for wanting his grandmother at the top table rather than her.
Brooklyn's Controversial Advert
Just days before the Father's Day posts, Brooklyn stirred controversy by making light of the family drama in a World Cup-themed commercial for American brand DoorDash. The promotional clip, reportedly paying him at least $1 million (£753,000), shows the 27-year-old relaxing at home while waiting for a delivery. He says to the camera: "You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home. It's not like I don't have tickets. Um, it's because... it's a long story." According to Page Six, those close to David and Victoria were left upset by the perceived dig. Fans of the Beckham family were stunned to see Brooklyn poke fun at the scandal in the advert, which he partnered with DoorDash to hide World Cup tickets around American cities for fans to claim.
