David Beckham celebrated England's victory against Norway in the World Cup quarter-final with a family photo, but the absence of his eldest son Brooklyn highlighted the ongoing family rift.
Family Photo After Victory
Huddled close together, David Beckham and his family posed for a picture after England beat Norway to reach the semi-final. Flanked by wife Victoria and three of their children—Romeo, Cruz, and Harper—David, 51, had his fist in the air. He captioned the snap: "What a moment in Miami, I'm so proud of the team tonight reaching the Semi final of the World Cup and to celebrate with my family was so special... Thank you @england for giving our country these moments."
Brooklyn's Absence and Feud
Despite the celebrations, the absence of eldest son Brooklyn was impossible to ignore. Brooklyn has been estranged from his family since a bombshell statement in January where he slammed his famous parents. To make matters worse, last month Brooklyn joked about the feud in an American advert for food delivery company DoorDash. The ad shows Brooklyn walking through his house and turning to the camera to say: "You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… it's a long story." Holding a handful of tickets, he adds: "These can go to someone...else." He then gives the tickets to a DoorDash employee, saying: "Hey, put them somewhere fun!"
Emotional Reactions During the Match
The ongoing saga didn't dampen spirits yesterday. At one point during the match, David was seen jumping out of his seat and punching his fist in the air after England scored. However, the drama of live sport played out in his emotions: he held his head in his hands after Norway equalized, and earlier was snapped holding his fist against his mouth. Victoria was on hand to comfort him, pictured lovingly hugging him at one point. High up in the Miami stadium, the backdrop showed the England squad and the huge crowd.
Fan Reactions and Tributes
Fans rushed to the comment section of David's Instagram. One said: "One of the best things about this game was having you there." Another added: "It was a tough game, but you guys made it." A third wrote: "Such a lovely moment to share as a family." In another post, David simply said: "Brilliant from the lads." The former England footballer, recently knighted by King Charles, led tributes to the team.
Public Figures Respond
Following his post, presenter Piers Morgan described England's manager Thomas Tuchel as a "natural-born winner who refuses to accept anything but the best." Prince William wrote: "Well done England! Top performance in a tough environment. This is a special team. Commiserations to a proud Norway team. Onto the semi final... Never in doubt! W."
Earlier Support and Missed Moments
Earlier this week, David showed support to the England team, watching them train in Miami with sons Romeo and Cruz, offering hugs and words of advice. The former England footballer—who owns Inter Miami CF—visited the team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was seen tightly hugging Jude Bellingham and having in-depth chats with players including Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Harry Kane. It was yet another moment Brooklyn missed out on. The aspiring chef also failed to publicly acknowledge his sister Harper's 15th birthday on Friday, while the rest of the family posted heartfelt messages. The family were recently seen in London to watch Cruz and his band The Breakers perform, where Cruz dedicated a song to Harper.
