Dad's Shock as Harvey Elliott Asks to Hold His Newborn Son

Ryan Omara, a 29-year-old father from St Helens, was out with his eight-day-old son Jackson James and fiancée Ema Frodsham at the Trafford Centre on June 19 when he encountered Liverpool FC midfielder Harvey Elliott. Ryan, diagnosed with Crohn's disease in January and struggling to walk, initially felt too starstruck to approach the footballer.

Unexpected Invitation from Elliott's Father

While browsing JD Sports, Ryan noticed Harvey Elliott in the store's barber shop. Elliott's father, Scott, spotted Ryan and his family and asked if Ryan wanted a haircut, offering to arrange the appointment. Ryan agreed and soon found himself seated next to the Liverpool player.

Elliott's Gesture Leaves Dad Speechless

During the haircut, Elliott turned to Ryan and asked if he wanted a photo and if he could hold the newborn baby. Ryan told the ECHO: "He turned round to us and asked if I wanted to get in for a hair cut. I said yes. Then as I was getting my haircut, Elliott just turned round and asked if we wanted a picture and if he could hold our baby."

Ryan compared the moment to the famous Lionel Messi photo holding Lamine Yamal, adding: "Hopefully one day my son is on the pitch at Anfield."

Family Connection to Liverpool

Ryan, a Liverpool FC fan, noted that his 82-year-old grandfather, originally from Liverpool, is a long-time admirer of Elliott and had recently commented that Liverpool needed him back in midfield next season. Ryan described the encounter as "one of the nicest interactions I have ever had" and told Elliott, "You're more beautiful in person."

Social Media Frenzy

Since the meeting, Ryan shared photos on TikTok and X, garnering thousands of likes, comments, and shares. The chance encounter has resonated widely with fans.

Elliott's Future at Liverpool

Harvey Elliott, 23, faces a potential return to Liverpool's first team after a loan to Aston Villa did not become permanent due to a disagreement over the transfer fee. He could now be integrated back into the squad under manager Andoni Iraola, who may view Elliott as a new signing amid links to several big-name transfers.
