Coronation Street fans have expressed their concern that a major storyline has been forgotten amidst the investigation into who killed Theo Silverton.
The abuser was confirmed as the victim of a murder, which was revealed would rock the cobbles back in February, following a week of drama. An episode of the ITV soap featuring a flashforward confirmed that a shocking crime would occur on the cobbles, with Betsy Swain making the deadly discovery.
At the time, it was revealed that the teen would find the murder victim on the night of her mum, Lisa Swain's, wedding to Carla Connor, and that it would either be Theo, Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh or Maggie Driscoll, whose lifeless body she would stumble across.
Eventually, a week after the wedding aired, it was revealed that Theo was the victim, bringing an end to his 13-month reign of terror over his partner, Todd Grimshaw.
As Corrie fans know, Theo first arrived on the cobbles back in March 2025, and quickly struck up a sizzling romance with local undertaker, Todd Grimshaw. While at first it was believed that Theo was struggling with being public about his sexuality, secretly having a wife and teenage children, it soon transpired that the newcomer's character was much more than that.
What followed was a heartbreaking and difficult-to-watch domestic violence and coercive control storyline, during which Todd was seen suffering both physical and mental abuse at the hands of his partner.
Theo's behaviour was soon exposed to Todd's loved ones, who were desperate to save him. Todd managed to eventually escape after Theo left him bloodied and bruised in a devastating attack. He bravely went to the police and gave a statement, detailing the horror he had been subject to. But lack of evidence meant that Theo was free to roam the cobbles.
Before his death, Todd played a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse to outsmart his vengeful husband. Todd managed to hide, and he called Christina Boyd to let her and George Shuttleworth know what had happened. It wasn't long before Christina set off to go and find him, warning George to stay at the house.
Meanwhile, Summer Spellman also found herself caught in the crossfire when she came face-to-face with a sinister Theo, who forced her to hand over her phone, which he then chucked out of the window. Viewers didn't see any more of their confrontation before; soon, a jovial Betsy was given the shock of her life as she stumbled across the villain's lifeless body outside.
But with a 'whodunnit' having quickly got underway, Corrie fans are concerned that they haven't seen the fallout for Todd and what he went through.
@Audz32129841 said: "The sad thing about all these storylines is that Todd's abuse story has got lost in them #Corrie." @justwlwthings commented: "This!! I absolutely hate when soaps kill their abusers because there is never justice and normally always leads to a whodunnit. Gaerth did such a great job during this storyline, now I fear theyre doing his character dirty."
@C70268211 replied: "If Todd is not the murderer, which at this stage I highly doubt will be the case, I find it increasingly upsetting that he came out of a manipulative relationship only to have to deal with those closest to him lying and keeping secrets. No wonder he is angry. He deserved better."
However, Corrie's producer Kate Brooks has previously told the Manchester Evening News and other press that Todd's story will remain a huge part of what happens next in Weatherfield. "It's Todd rebuilding his life - this is a guy who's been subjected to the most horrific abuse, who is traumatised, who was grieving. And it's how he kind of tried to rebuild his life while still kind of struggling to comprehend the fact that this man's been murdered by potentially somebody he knows or maybe even him."
She added: "It's an interesting mix of ‘whodunnit’ thriller story, but also about Todd's family and friends, George, Christina, Summer, Sarah, all rallying around Todd to make sure that he's okay, to try and build them and repeat them back together. What he's been through at the hands of Theo has been such an ordeal for him, and to get that love and to get that trust in people again, it was very important to show that with Todd."
