Clarkson's Farm Star Gerald Cooper: Accent, Cancer Battle, and Family Ties
Clarkson's Farm Star Gerald Cooper: Accent, Cancer, Family

Gerald Cooper, a beloved figure on Clarkson's Farm, is a key member of the Diddly Squat Farm team. Known for his thick West Country accent and signature mullet, Gerald has been a staple since the show's debut. Despite Jeremy Clarkson and others often struggling to understand him, Gerald remains a cherished part of the farm.

Series 5 of Clarkson's Farm ended on an emotional note as the team dealt with a difficult year. Jeremy faced a prostate cancer diagnosis after emergency heart surgery earlier in the series. The season also covered the tough decision to sell unprofitable pigs, a TB outbreak leading to animal culls, and Kaleb Cooper and his fiancée Taya welcoming their third child.

Who Is Gerald Cooper?

Gerald, instantly recognizable by his mullet, has been on the show from the start. He helps with combine harvesting and building farm walls. His strong West Country accent has become a running joke, as Jeremy often finds him hard to understand. However, BBC Countryfile presenter Adam Henson, who has met Gerald, says he speaks clearly and suggests the show exaggerates his accent for laughs.

Is Gerald Related to Kaleb Cooper?

Despite sharing the surname Cooper, Gerald and Kaleb are not related. The show has joked about the many unrelated Coopers in Chipping Norton. It's purely coincidental.

Gerald's Cancer Battle

In Season 3, Gerald was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent treatment. Jeremy broke the news on the show after a phone call. Thankfully, Gerald is now cancer-free. In 2024, he posted a health update on X (formerly Twitter) with a photo captioned: "A healthy and happy Gerald!"

Clarkson's Farm Season 5 is streaming on Prime Video now.
