Charlotte Crosby has revealed she suffered a second silent miscarriage just five months after her first. The Geordie Shore star, 36, who has two daughters, Alba Jean, two, and Pixie, 20 months, found out she was pregnant last month but was told at her eight week scan that she had miscarried.
Emotional announcement
Charlotte, who is engaged to Jake Ankers, has spoken openly about her love of motherhood and wanting to add to her family. However, she has now admitted she is uncertain over her future in a heartbreaking post.
Sharing a photo of herself with tears streaming down her face as well as two positive pregnancy tests taken last month, she explained: "Last month, we got the news we'd been hoping for. We found out we were pregnant. It's no secret that we've been trying to grow our family, so you can imagine the overwhelming happiness we felt when we saw the positive test."
Mixed emotions and fear
Charlotte continued: "There are no words to describe how happy we were. Being a mother is, without a doubt, the greatest gift life has ever given me. Nothing brings me more happiness than being a mam, and so the thought of growing our family filled Jake and I with so much happiness and excitement."
"Especially after experiencing a silent miscarriage earlier this year, this pregnancy came with a lot of mixed emotions and nerves. It was a combination of happiness and fear at the same time."
Heartbreaking loss
Recalling the heartbreaking moment she found out she had lost her baby, the reality star said: "It felt like someone had ripped our hearts out of our chests. We lost another baby, another silent miscarriage."
A silent miscarriage is often only discovered during a routine scan in the early weeks of pregnancy. It is sometimes called a delayed miscarriage because there is a delay before the symptoms of miscarriage start.
Charlotte endured another silent miscarriage five months ago. During her scan, sonographers were unable to see her embryo, meaning she faced a distressing two-week wait in case it was too early for it to be seen. However, sadly Charlotte and Jake were later told that they had lost their baby.
Support from friends
Admitting she doesn't know what the future holds, Charlotte signed off her post: "I'm not sure where we can go from here and the future feels a little uncertain. I wanted to share this because this is my life, and this is our story. Sometimes sharing the hardest parts helps me carry them a little more easily. If you're going through something similar, you're not alone."
Responding to her poignant post, Charlotte's famous friends sent their love. Paris Fury, who has spoken candidly about suffering a miscarriage in the past, wrote: "Big love to you, you can and will get through this and you show amazing strength to put this out there. Blessed with your girls and keep strong."
Meanwhile, EastEnders actress Jac Jossa, whose two older brothers died as babies, replied: "Sending so much love" with five heart emojis. Also sending their support was TOWIE star Amy Childs, who wrote: "I am so so sorry Charlotte," and Les Dawson's daughter, Charlotte Dawson, who added: "Sending you both so much love".
