The second series of Celebrity Traitors has already amassed millions of fans since it kicked off last week, but new reports suggest the drama extended beyond what viewers saw on screen.
This week, viewers were shocked when US actress Myha'la, star of BBC One's Industry, was banished and Coronation Street legend Julie Hesmondhalgh was sent home in a bombshell decision, rather than maths whizz Professor Hannah Fry, who is a Traitor. Meanwhile, acting veteran Richard E. Grant admitted to 'losing his mind' on the show before he was booted off.
Off-screen tension
It has now been reported that the drama continued after the cameras stopped rolling, with claims that some of the famous faces were at 'each other's throats'.
Suggesting there was even more drama off screen than on, a source told the Daily Mail: "The tension is coming across on screen, but it was just as bad if not worse when the cameras stopped rolling."
"It is a tense environment, and they are cut off from the outside world; it is hard for them to switch off even when they head back to their individual lodgings. They were constantly thinking about the game."
Stars 'couldn't hack it'
Comedian Rob Beckett is one of the celebrities who is said to have 'struggled' most on the show. Claiming several of the famous faces "couldn't hack" the cutthroat nature of the programme, the source added: "They were all making each other more stressed out. A lot of them just couldn't hack it, I'm not sure what they thought they were signing up to."
"One contestant really lost their nerve at one point and their co-stars were absolutely stunned. And Rob, who is usually so funny, really struggled at points and surprised the others with his behaviour. They put it down to the fact that things were so tense."
Filming paused
Appearing to support this claim, the show reportedly had to pause filming when comedian James Acaster became "very anxious" on set and began to panic whilst production on the game show was underway.
A source said: "The show is incredibly intense and during one particular scene at the castle, James became very anxious and panicked."
Speaking to The Sun, they added: "Some of the other celebrities on the show spoke up and said cameras should stop rolling so he could calm down, and production were in agreement as well."
