Celebrity Traitors episode 6 draws 9.3 million viewers

The sixth episode of The Celebrity Traitors attracted an average audience of 9.3 million viewers, with comedian Joe Lycett banished from the castle during the instalment.

The episode peaked at 9.6 million viewers and achieved a 57% audience share, according to the BBC.

Record-breaking season

The second season of the celebrity spin-off launched earlier this month, with its premiere becoming the most-watched debut episode of any series of the programme in the UK, averaging 8.9 million viewers.

Friday's episode opened with the revelation that no player had been murdered, after traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster recruited content creator King Kenny. The YouTube star filled the vacancy left by Hannah Fry, who was banished during Thursday's round table and exposed as a traitor.

Lycett's fate sealed

Lycett had been vocal about wanting to become Fry's replacement, which ultimately sealed his fate as he was banished after his calls for recruitment aroused suspicion from fellow faithfuls.

Elsewhere in the episode, celebrities underwent a gruelling mission in the pouring rain, answering questions about each other to match statue heads with their bodies and mount them on plinths.

Dramatic moments

During the game, it was revealed the group voted actor Michael Sheen as head of the round table, while Romesh Ranganathan was deemed to have the best poker face and Jerry Hall was described as having her head in the clouds.

After the round table, Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock lightened the mood by teaching comedian Miranda Hart the dance moves to the band's hit Touch. While Hart dubbed herself "Big Mix", the traitors attempted to murder either Hall or Ross Kemp in plain sight by "boring them to death".

The treacherous trio sprayed perfume from a peacock bottle, then tried to encourage a faithful to yawn and inhale the perfume to kill them. The episode ended with the traitors under pressure as time ran out. Viewers must wait until next week to find out whether their latest murder attempt was successful.

The Celebrity Traitors continues on BBC One at 8pm next Thursday.
