Olivia Colman surprised fans last week when she debuted a new look, embracing her natural grey hair and curls. She is not the only star in Hollywood making the change, as Brooklyn Peltz-Beckham was also spotted with salt-and-pepper hair while out with his wife Nicola.
The 27-year-old's brunette tresses were streaked with silver as he headed out at Paris Fashion Week, wearing oversized sunglasses to hide his face.
Fashion experts on the grey hair trend
Fashion editor Stacey Duguid told The Guardian: “Being able to embrace your grey hair proudly is a privilege. There is a reluctance for women who are trying to get back into the workplace to go grey.”
Greys typically emerge in the mid-30s for white and Asian people, and around mid-40s for Black people.
Olivia Colman's new look
Peep Show star Olivia Colman stepped out at Zurich Film Festival in an all-white look, all the way down to her hair. She ditched her signature brunette tresses and embraced an all-grey curl, keeping her hair to one side to show off her silver hoop earring.
Bellissima Italia ambassador and curly hair specialist Callum Ashely Townsend mused: “I’m loving Olivia Colman’s new hair and how it completely transforms her look. The natural grey look embodies a powerful stance on natural beauty and the chic appearance of natural hair at any age. It’s a really beautiful example of how embracing grey can look effortlessly elegant.
“I don’t think grey hair is going anywhere. We’re seeing more women embrace their natural colour, and Olivia shows just how sophisticated and modern it can look.”
He recommends the Bellissima Diffon Worldwide as a diffuser to achieve defined, effortless curls at home.
Brooklyn Beckham and Helen Mirren
Brooklyn Beckham looked like the spitting image of his dad David as he stepped out at Paris Fashion Week with his greying hair, after risking a run-in with his estranged parents at the event.
He donned an open-collar white shirt and a loose black tie with a leather jacket and cargos, while his wife Nicola opted for a black tank top and low-rise skirt with stilettos for the Balenciaga show.
Though she was best known for her blonde locks, Helen Mirren admitted she became “too lazy” to carry on dyeing her hair. She admitted: “I just couldn’t be bothered, honestly.”
Now Helen’s hair is entirely white, with her admitting to Vogue in 2021: “I was a natural blonde and although it was quite dark at times, in the summertime when I'd spent time in the sun, it would basically go white. So the process of me losing the colour of my hair was very easy — it just looked more and more as if I had been in the sun, but year-round.”
