Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley reveals secret hormonal condition after Strictly
Catherine Tyldesley reveals secret health condition

Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley has spoken candidly about a private health battle, revealing that a punishing work schedule led to a significant hormonal imbalance.

The Strain of Showbiz on Health

The 41-year-old star, famed for playing Eva Price in the ITV soap, returned to the Weatherfield cobbles in October 2025 after a seven-year hiatus. However, she has now disclosed that her health suffered in the years following her initial departure from the show in 2018.

Tyldesley, a mother-of-two, explained that her system was thrown into turmoil after she competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 and subsequently embarked on the nationwide tour. The relentless pace and extreme hours caused a dramatic reaction in her body.

'My Hormones Went a Bit Cuckoo'

In a frank interview with The Sun, the actress detailed how her oestrogen levels soared, leading to considerable weight fluctuations. She described the experience as so profound it felt akin to having "given birth without having a baby."

"Most of the time my hormones are fine, but after Strictly and doing the tour, they kind of went a bit cuckoo," Catherine admitted. "My oestrogen can sometimes go a bit high. The hours that we work and everything... You’ve got to be as fit as a fiddle in our job."

This revelation has made the actress even more determined to prioritise her wellbeing, especially now she is back in the demanding world of a continuing drama.

Balancing Acting with Family Life

Thankfully, her Corrie comeback means she can now live at home in Manchester full-time with her husband, Tom Pitfield, and their children, Alfie, 10, and Iris, three. This stability contrasts sharply with previous filming commitments that took her away from her family for extended periods.

Earlier in June 2025, Catherine revealed the harsh realities of being a working mother in the industry while filming Channel 5's The Good Ship Murder in Malta. She confessed that it was not uncommon for her to go several days without speaking to her young children during intense production blocks.

She described the emotional difficulty of missing bedtime routines and daily chats, stating that while work mode kept her focused, the silence of her hotel room in the evenings was challenging.

Now, firmly back on home soil, Catherine is channelling her energy into her iconic role. After just weeks back on the famous street, her character Eva has taken over the Rovers Return and is set for a dramatic and eventful Christmas Day in Weatherfield.
