Former Loose Women panellist Carol McGiffin has disclosed a significant backstage altercation with co-star Kaye Adams, stemming from their differing views on the Ukraine war. McGiffin, who left the ITV show in 2023 after returning in 2018, made the revelation on the Heretics podcast with Andrew Gold.
According to McGiffin, tensions escalated following the COVID-19 pandemic, during which she held anti-mask and anti-lockdown positions. She claimed that shortly after pandemic restrictions ended, the Ukraine conflict began, leading to a heated exchange on set. McGiffin stated she refused to declare support for Ukraine, opting instead to examine historical context.
Describing the row as 'massive, massive, massive', McGiffin said it occurred before a show and involved Adams, whom she described as a good friend despite frequent disagreements. McGiffin criticised what she perceived as intolerance from the show and leftists, and rejected the notion that Russian President Vladimir Putin is 'insane and mad'.
McGiffin also addressed comments about her decision not to have children, asserting that she had always maintained on Loose Women that she did not need to have children because others were doing so. The Mirror has contacted Kaye Adams' representatives for comment.
