Lee Ryan, a member of the boy band Blue, has been charged with common assault after allegedly hitting his fiancée Samantha Millar, police confirmed. The 27-year-old singer denies the accusation.
The incident is said to have occurred while the couple were in a car in London's West End on Wednesday. Millar, 26, is the mother of Ryan's son.
Ryan is scheduled to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on 27 August. A Metropolitan Police spokesman stated that Ryan, of Henley-on-Thames, is due to appear on bail.
Blue, formed in 2001, have sold over 15 million records. Ryan released a solo album after the group disbanded in 2004. They reformed last year, and Ryan recently tweeted about writing material for a new album.
A spokesman for Ryan said: 'Lee 100% denies common assault.'
