Nick Endacott-Gibb, 57, who confirmed via a 2019 DNA test that he is the son of late Bee Gees star Maurice Gibb, has disputed claims made by singer Lulu that he was conceived during their marriage. Lulu, 77, said on the Louis Theroux podcast that she believed Maurice fathered a son during their relationship, but Nick insists he was conceived before they were together.
Nick, from Hove, East Sussex, was born in April 1968, conceived in August 1967. Lulu and Maurice married in February 1969 after a whirlwind romance and divorced in 1973. Nick stated: 'I was born in April 1968, conceived in August 1967. Lulu and Maurice weren’t married until 1969... Two years does not a whirlwind make.'
Adopted at 18 months, Nick grew up in East Sussex. He began searching for his birth parents in his 20s and was reunited with his biological mother, Patti Nolder, in 2003. She initially identified Chris Andrews as his father, but a DNA test proved negative. Later, Patti's sister revealed that Maurice Gibb was his father.
In 2019, Nick's DNA matched with Maurice's son Adam Gibb on an ancestry website, confirming he was Maurice's half-brother. He connected with the Gibb family, including sister Lesley Evans and her daughter Debbie. Together, they formed Cousins Gibb and recorded a version of 'Tragedy'. Nick spent last Christmas with them in Australia.
Nick, who has not spoken to surviving Bee Gee Barry Gibb, said: 'I’m sad he died before I got the chance to meet him, but his memory lives on in the songs.' He will tour the UK this autumn with Debbie in a Bee Gees tribute act and release an album in May with his band Mojosonic.
