David Beckham appeared to extend an olive branch to his eldest son Brooklyn by featuring him in a Father's Day Instagram tribute. The former England captain, 51, posted a collection of family photographs, including a throwback image of himself with Brooklyn as a youngster and another showing Brooklyn alongside siblings Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.
Father's Day Messages from David and Victoria Beckham
Accompanying the images, David wrote: "Being a dad is my most important job - I love you all and thank you mummy @victoriabeckham for giving me our beautiful family. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads around the world." The gesture comes amid ongoing reports of a rift between David and Brooklyn, with the pair believed to have been estranged for over a year.
Victoria Beckham also made a conciliatory gesture, posting a nostalgic family photograph on Instagram showing David surrounded by all four children. She captioned it: "David you truly are the best daddy. Your greatest achievement has always been our beautiful children and we love you so much. Happy Father's Day."
Brooklyn's Controversial DoorDash Ad
The tributes follow Brooklyn's controversial World Cup-themed advertisement for DoorDash. In the clip, the 27-year-old is seen relaxing at home while awaiting a delivery. Turning to the camera, he quips: "You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home. It's not like I don't have tickets. Um, it's because ... it's a long story."
As the son of a former World Cup footballer, Brooklyn would ordinarily have little trouble securing tickets, yet his advert implies he is reluctant to attend matches to avoid uncomfortable family encounters. Brooklyn is reported to have earned at least $1 million (£753,000) for the campaign, though Page Six claims those close to David and Victoria were deeply hurt by what they perceived as a pointed dig.
Brooklyn's Public Statement on Family Rift
Earlier this year, Brooklyn broke his silence on social media, writing: "I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed."
He continued: "For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into." Brooklyn alleged his parents tried to drive a wedge between him and his wife before their 2022 wedding, pressured him to sign away rights to his own name, and that Victoria had labelled him "evil" for wanting to seat his grandmother at the top table. He also claimed his siblings were directed to "attack" him on social media, and that his mother hijacked his first dance at the wedding.
Brooklyn wrote: "I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life." He added: "My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family."
