BBC Viewers Distracted by Louis Tomlinson at World Cup

BBC viewers were left stunned after spotting a famous face during the World Cup semi-final between England and Argentina on Wednesday night. As the camera panned to the live audience in Atlanta, fans realised that One Direction star Louis Tomlinson was in attendance to support the team.

Social Media Erupts

Taking to social media, one person wrote: "WAS THAT LOUIS TOMLINSON IN THE AUDIENCE. IT WAAASSSSS AAAAA." Another commented: "Louis Tomlinson is there. Oh my god." Someone else shared: "LOUIS TOMLINSON SPOTTED AT THE #WorldCup." A fourth added: "Louis Tomlinson blessing our screens at the England game tonight was everything I needed." While another person posted: "I'm already satisfied with the match cause I saw Louis Tomlinson in the crowd #WorldCup #England."

Other Celebrities in Attendance

The former One Direction member wasn't the sole celebrity spotted amongst the attendees. Rolling Stones icon Mick Jagger was also present to rally behind the squad, according to the Mirror.

Controversy During National Anthem

During the fixture, Argentina supporters sparked fury amongst audiences as they were heard jeering throughout England's national anthem before kick-off. The Three Lions faithful responded with their own chorus of boos.

Tuchel and Bellingham Exchange

Thomas Tuchel recently faced criticism following remarks he made after England's 2-1 match against Norway, in which he critiqued the technical side of England's performance. When asked for his reaction to his manager's comments, Jude Bellingham responded: "Yeah, well... whatever. Whatever. It's difficult out there. It's a tough shift."

Addressing the exchange, Tuchel moved to play down any suggestion of a rift, telling The Guardian: "Our comments come from the same place – from being competitive and having the edge when competition is on. He [Bellingham] was just confronted with a critique of my side. I [also] called him a world-class player. I said he had world-class actions again to decide the match. I said the mentality is outstanding of this team. All of that was not part of the question. I would maybe also bite back when I come from 120 minutes, score two goals and give literally everything that is in my body. It's just a very normal reaction for a player of his mindset. So no problem."

The World Cup final airs on Sunday, July 19, on BBC One from 8pm.
