BBC presenter Peter Levy's recent joke about "escorts" left audiences in stitches during a live news broadcast. The 71-year-old veteran host stifled his laugh as he read out the news, which included a video about the Dacia Sandero car, often compared to the classic Ford Escort.
As the cameras cut back to Peter in the studio, he joked: "I love the car names. Phillip Norton, who is always looking for an escort." Peter tried to hold back his cheeky smile as viewers at home took to social media to laugh along with him.
Viewers praise the presenter's comedic timing
One viewer wrote: "The man's a comedic genius." Someone else who was tickled by Peter's remark said: "You know he's got the producer in his ear, HR will be calling him in the morning!"
A third person admitted the news reader's quip had brightened up his day: "One of the perks of now living in Grimsby is watching Peter and his cheeky one liners."
Not the first time Peter has laughed on air
Peter is known for his cheeky nature, and this isn't the first time he's been left red-faced while reading the news. Back in 2023, the BBC presenter was left in giggles after he was forced to report on a place known as the "Glory Hole."
He read out a news bulletin about the rising costs of a walkway in Lincoln with the rude name, which descended into a laughing fit.
