Arthur Fery has made history by reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals, becoming the first male British wildcard to reach a Grand Slam semi-final in the Open Era. The 23-year-old, ranked 114th in the world, defeated Italian ninth seed Flavio Cobolli 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 on Centre Court on July 8 to secure his place in the last four.
Record-Breaking Run
Fery's victory over Cobolli, whom he had previously beaten in the first round of the 2026 Australian Open, marks an extraordinary run at the Championships. He is the lowest-ranked Wimbledon semi-finalist in 25 years. After the match, Fery said: "I don't know what I'll do over the next couple of days, I've never been in this position before! I guess we will figure it all out as we go. I'm just going to keep going. I've been doing a great job for the past 10 days, so I'm just going to do the same thing and see where that takes me."
Upcoming Semi-Final
On Friday, July 10, Fery will face second seed Alexander Zverev in the first match on Centre Court, scheduled to start at 1:30pm. This will be the biggest match of Fery's career against the German star.
Background and Family Wealth
Fery was born in Sèvres, a Paris suburb, to French parents Loic and Olivia. His family moved to Wimbledon when he was young, and he recalls watching matches on Centre Court as a child. He attended King's College School, a prestigious private school where tuition fees can reach £11,940 per term. He later studied at Stanford University, pursuing a degree in science, technology and society, and trained under tennis doubles legends Bob and Mike Bryan.
His father, Loic Fery, owns Ligue 1 side Lorient and has a net worth of £275 million, according to the Express. Loic also played tennis growing up. His mother, Olivia, had a successful tennis career, winning two singles titles with a 33-25 record and competing in the 1991 French Open before retiring.
Nationality and Education
Fery represented France at under-12 level due to his dual nationality, having moved from France at one month old. His parents encouraged him to complete his A-Levels before focusing fully on tennis. In 2021, he made his mixed doubles debut at Wimbledon with Tara Moore, reaching the third round.
Personal Life
Fery is reportedly dating his former schoolmate, influencer Honor Millard, known online as "The Honorable Chef." However, he tends to keep his private life private.
