West End sensation Amber Davies has finally broken her silence on the persistent romance rumours surrounding her and professional dance partner Nikita Kuzmin as they prepare for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Love Island winner, who shot to fame in the theatre world with starring roles in Bring It On and 9 to 5 The Musical, revealed the intense chemistry viewers see on screen stems from their professional dedication rather than romantic involvement.
The Power of Partnership
"When you're spending six to eight hours a day in a dance studio with someone, you develop an incredible bond," Davies explained. "Nikita and I have become very close through this process, but it's purely professional and built on mutual respect for our craft."
The 27-year-old performer acknowledged the speculation was somewhat inevitable given their visible connection during training sessions and early show footage. "People will always talk, but we're focused on creating magic on the dance floor," she stated emphatically.
Strictly's Famous 'Curse'
Davies becomes the latest celebrity to confront Strictly's notorious 'curse' - the phenomenon where competing couples develop romantic relationships, often leading to the breakdown of existing partnerships.
"I'm aware of the history, but I'm here to dance and showcase what I can do," she asserted. "My relationship status hasn't changed, and I'm completely focused on the competition."
From West End to Ballroom
The transition from theatrical performance to competitive ballroom has presented unique challenges for the experienced performer. "Musical theatre and competitive dance are completely different disciplines," Davies revealed. "I'm used to telling stories through song and character, but this requires technical precision I've never experienced before."
With the launch show just weeks away, the pressure is mounting for all celebrity contestants. "Nikita is pushing me harder than I've ever been pushed," Davies admitted. "There are moments of frustration and tears, but we're building something special together."
As for whether the rumours will affect their performance? "Absolutely not," Davies concluded. "If anything, it's given us more motivation to prove what we can achieve as dance partners."
