Amanda Holden has admitted that life at home feels 'weird' after her eldest daughter Lexi left for university. The 54-year-old presenter spoke about the shift on her Heart Radio show, saying she is still adjusting to dining with just her husband Chris Hughes and youngest daughter Hollie, 13.
Holden, who shares daughters Lexi, 20, and Hollie with husband Chris, revealed that the three of them sitting down for dinner now feels unusual. She said: 'I feel her pain. Lexi's at uni, there are three of us just sitting down having dinner, it feels weird.'
To fill the void, Holden is considering expanding her furry family. She told co-star Jamie Theakston: 'I'm looking to extend my brood. My husband is gulping but I want to get another dog.' When Jamie joked about another child, she replied: 'No, but it's the same thing, another furry baby. We've got a nice home, we've got a good garden, let's rescue another one.'
The couple already have rescue dog Rudie and cats Muffy and Bolt. Holden previously made an on-air plea to her husband about adopting another pet, referencing their stillborn son Theo in 2011. She said: 'I would've had loads if I had met Chris earlier... I'm going to say we had three, we ended up with two if you know what I mean.'
Holden's comments come after she was injured while trying to separate her cats. She described being attacked by her cat during a fight between the new pet and their older cat.
