Alison Hammond hits back at age-gap backlash

Alison Hammond has told trolls judging her 22-year age gap with partner David Putman to "mind your business", saying people spend far too much time focused on other people's relationships.

The 51-year-old, known for fronting ITV's This Morning and Channel 4's Great British Bake Off, has been dating the 29-year-old model since 2023. Their romance quickly drew attention, but Hammond has said she pays no attention to the backlash, believing people are too preoccupied with others' lives.

Fierce Response to Critics

In an interview with Attitude magazine, the TV presenter declared: "Mind your business!" before continuing: "No, genuinely, I think people spend far too much time worrying about other people's relationships."

"If two consenting adults are happy, loved, respected and making each other laugh, what exactly is the problem? People will always have an opinion."

"I've learned that you can't live your life according to everybody else's opinions because you'll end up exhausted and miserable. Love who you love."

Shared Humour and Easy Relationship

The former Big Brother star also revealed that one of her favourite aspects of their relationship is their shared sense of humour. She said: "Life is too short to be in a relationship where you can't laugh together."

"We're different in lots of ways, but sometimes those differences are exactly what makes it interesting. And, let's be honest, I bring the life experience and he brings the youth. It's basically a human multi-generational home!"

This follows Hammond previously attributing her radiant new appearance to being loved-up. She told OK! Magazine over the summer: "I've got a lovely man in my life", she explained during a chat on a sunny hotel balcony in central London.

No Wedding Plans

Now together for over two years, they've found their groove with absolutely no drama, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"It's just easy. I think that's when you know you've got something special. He just sees me for who I am. We choose each other, every day."

When questioned about potential wedding bells, the mum-of-one smiled knowingly. "I don't think so. We don't need to! We're both cool," she responded.
