Football Star's Jungle Journey Ends in Public Vote
Former England footballer Alex Scott has become the first contestant to be eliminated from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2025. The 41-year-old sports pundit was voted off during Friday night's live show, ending her jungle adventure after a dramatic week in the Australian camp.
Camp Controversy and Emotional Support
Scott's departure came after she found herself vulnerable following comedian Eddie Kadi's exemption from the public vote. Kadi secured his safety by winning a live trial, leaving Scott facing the public vote alone. The Football Focus presenter had previously been punished for smuggling contraband salt into camp, resulting in the entire camp losing a star from their rations.
Despite the setback, Scott received a warm welcome from friend Regan Coleman as she crossed the famous bridge out of the jungle. Her partner, singer Jess Glynne, was unable to greet her personally as she's currently performing a string of shows across the UK.
Love, Representation and Future Plans
During her time in camp, Scott opened up about several personal topics, including her relationship with Glynne and her views on diversity in media. She revealed that Glynne had proposed their relationship first at London's Chiltern Firehouse, describing the connection as "instant" and saying she'd "never known happiness" before meeting the Hold My Hand singer.
The conversation turned to marriage when fellow camper Ruby Wax questioned Scott about future plans. "I will get married to her, just waiting for her to ask, Rubes!" Scott revealed. Following the episode's broadcast, Glynne responded on social media, telling her nearly 900,000 followers: "I better go get a ring."
Scott also discussed her career philosophy regarding diversity and representation. "I never just want to be given a role because 'oh we need a type for this'", she explained. "I want to always be given a job because I am the best person for that role."
She acknowledged progress in media representation while emphasising that merit should always come first. "Now those opportunities are open, I still just want to be given the role because I am the best person for the job, never because I'm just ticking a box," Scott stated.
The former Arsenal player expressed particular joy at seeing more women presenting sports television, calling it a positive development for the industry.
From afar, Glynne showed her support with emotional social media posts, describing Scott as "a true trailblazer" and expressing how much she missed her partner. The jungle stint marked the longest period the couple, who began dating in 2023, have spent apart since going public with their relationship.
