Paloma Faith: Dads Aren't 'Helping' With Baby, They're Doing Their Job

Paloma Faith has called for the word 'help' to be abolished when referring to fathers looking after their children, insisting they are simply doing their job. The singer, speaking while travelling to a friend's wedding with her nine-week-old baby, said men should not be praised for basic parenting duties.

Faith, who has three children, reflected on the challenges of motherhood and the importance of support networks. 'We women blame ourselves – but you need your partner to be involved, and if they're not, then other people need to step in,' she said. 'If they don't, there's a reason why you're floundering and you're stressed and you're sleepless.'

The singer also addressed the fallout from her appearance on The Celebrity Traitors, where she was 'murdered' by friend Alan Carr. Faith confirmed they remain close, adding that attending the Baftas together was important to counter claims that Carr was a 'meanie'.

Faith described her role as a mentor on Channel 4's Your Song as a 'career highlight', praising the show's focus on authenticity over competition. 'The greatest performers of all time are people who speak to us – Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan... they found ways to be their authentic selves,' she said.

The pop star emphasised the accessibility of singing compared to other art forms, noting that Your Song is 'for everyone – from the most privileged to the most impoverished'. She credited her own early success to platforms like MySpace and a relentless work ethic.
