EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt, best known for playing Ian Beale, has won a £33,000 tax victory after closing his company. The actor, who has appeared on the soap since its first episode in 1985, saw his firm XL Management Ltd voluntarily liquidated after owing HMRC £139,000 in corporation tax.
Woodyatt, 56, ran the company with his ex-wife Beverly Turner. The firm, which handled income from his acting work, was closed following their 'toxic split'. Despite the tax debt, the actor reportedly earned around £2.5 million from the company over two years.
The tax victory comes after Woodyatt's annual income was boosted in 2021 when he joined I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! as a late entrant. He was reportedly paid a six-figure sum for his appearance in the Australian jungle.
Woodyatt currently earns £260,000 a year for his role on EastEnders, less than some co-stars such as Steve McFadden (£300,000) and former cast member Danny Dyer (£400,000). He also set up Neat Distillery Ltd in 2017, which launched a range of gins but was shut down in 2023 with a reported £13,370 debt.
