Adam Thomas has received an outpouring of support from his brothers and former co-stars after opening up about his difficult experience on I'm A Celebrity...South Africa. The 37-year-old actor, known for roles in Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, took to Instagram on Sunday evening to share a heartfelt post about the toll the show took on him, both physically and mentally.
In his post, Thomas admitted that a particular image from the show 'breaks my heart' as he reflected on the internal struggles he faced. He wrote: 'My time in I'm a Celebrity South Africa was one of the toughest things I've ever been through, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Watching it back hasn't been easy at all.' Thomas, who has been open about living with arthritis, added that the condition 'really took its toll' and that he often had to 'pretend to put on a brave face and try to hide the pain.'
His twin brother Scott, who rose to fame on Love Island in 2016, was quick to show his support, writing: 'It's tough watching my twin bro go through that in there...makes my blood boil! To see someone's pure heart be tested like that is hard to watch... I love you @adamthomas21 and will always have your back.' Ryan Thomas, best known for playing Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street, also offered brotherly encouragement, suggesting they enlist fellow boxer Tony Bellew for backup.
Other celebrities rallied around Thomas, including Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt, who won I'm A Celebrity in 2016 and is also appearing in the all-stars series. She wrote: 'Aww Adam I bloody love you. You're one of the kindest men I know.' Loose Women panellist Denise Welch, who starred alongside Thomas in Waterloo Road, simply said: 'Love you Adam.' Emmerdale co-stars Michelle Hardwick and Isabel Hodgkins also praised his handling of the situation, with Hodgkins stating: 'Never been prouder.'
Danny Miller, who won I'm A Celebrity in 2021, added: 'You're a beautiful man and those who really know you know what you bring to their lives. Love and laughter, you've handled yourself incredible.' In his post, Thomas acknowledged he didn't handle everything perfectly, but learned that 'being kind doesn't mean being weak.'
