Oliver Tree's upcoming celebration of life ceremony will be livestreamed for fans unable to attend in person, his family has confirmed. The service is scheduled for July 25 at 7pm PT at the Quarry Amphitheatre at UC Santa Cruz and will be broadcast across his social media channels.
Details of the Ceremony
The event will be ticketed for family and close friends in person, but fans can register on Tree's social media to receive a livestream link. A statement on his social media page reads: "Oliver Tree Nickell's Celebration of Life will be held at the Quarry Amphitheatre at UCSC July 25th. We kindly ask that you respect the University and do not show up unless you already have a ticket. Friends and family of Oliver - if you have not been in contact yet, please get in touch with management for guest list. We will be live-streaming the event so that supporters, friends and family who cannot make it will still be able to watch and celebrate together. Tragic Death
Tree, whose real name was Oliver Tree Nickel, died at age 32 on June 14, 2026, in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro. He was in South America for his The World's First Tour, having performed in São Paulo days earlier. The crash involved two helicopters colliding above an electric vehicle yard in the city's Southwest district. Also killed were director Lucas Vignale, Argentinian YouTuber Gaspar Prim (known as Gaspi), DJ and producer Lucas Frota, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.
Family Tribute
In a tribute, his family said: "Oliver Tree Nickell, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in a tragic accident at the age of 32. Known as Oliver Tree, he was an artist, storyteller, singer, songwriter, producer, director, editor, actor, filmmaker, entertainer, traveller, and creative force; he had just performed in São Paulo as part of his 7-continent world tour." They noted that from age five he showed "the most astonishing and creative drive," producing music and drawings. In his teens, he DJ'd as Kryph, opening for dance artists.
Career Highlights
Tree first gained fame at 17, working with Skrillex and Zeds Dead under the pseudonym Tree. At 20, he released his debut independent record, Spilling Branches, and joined the band Irony on lead vocals and guitar. His family added: "Oliver had a deep curiosity about the world and wanted to experience every country and culture. Over the past two years, Oliver was a global citizen, visiting over 100 countries... He went to the Middle East, sailed in Antarctica and became an Honorary Maasai tribal chief in Tanzania." They described him as "more than a musician; he was a true artist in every sense of the word." He had recently left Atlantic Records and released his final album, Love You Madly Hate You Badly, on April 24 via his own label, Alien Boy Records.
