An open-top bus service, the Tide Tour, will operate along the North Tyneside coast during the summer holidays from July 18 to August 31. The 300 service, operated by Go North East, offers seven daily departures between 10am and 4pm, allowing passengers to hop on and off at various attractions.
Route and Schedule
The Tide Tour runs between Tynemouth and Whitley Bay, starting at Tynemouth Metro Station. It passes through the village towards Tynemouth Priory and Castle, along the seafront, through Cullercoats, and past Spanish City to St Mary's Lighthouse before returning. The service is designed to provide easy access to the coast's key landmarks and beaches.
Funding and Comments
The service is funded by the North East Combined Authority. North East mayor Kim McGuinness expressed her desire for as many people as possible to enjoy North Tyneside's coast this summer. Ben Gilligan, managing director at Go North East, said: "In the North East, we’re so lucky to have fantastic beaches like Whitley Bay and Tynemouth on our doorstep with plenty of activities for families to enjoy. The Tide Tour is a great way to explore this part of the region while taking in some sea air from the top deck."
