A woman who ignored friends' warnings and painted her new-build bathroom brown has left social media users amazed at the transformation. Kelsea, who shared the makeover on TikTok, said the room became one of her favourites in the house.
From white to brown
Before the makeover, Kelsea's downstairs bathroom was plain white and, in her view, far too minimalist. When she told friends she planned to paint it brown, they all tried to talk her out of it. She went ahead anyway and was delighted with the final result.
Posting before-and-after footage on TikTok, she captioned the clip: “From a very basic newbuild cloakroom to one of my favourite rooms in the house. Sometimes you just have to trust the vision...and ignore everyone telling you not to paint it brown!”
Viewers praise the result
The rich brown tone made the room feel larger and more characterful. A larger replacement mirror enhanced the sense of space, while artificial plants and a gold tap added the finishing touches. Viewers were quick to praise the panelling, with one commenting: “This wouldn't have worked without that stunning panelling.”
Others who had doubted the idea admitted it looked “insanely better” than they expected. One admirer wrote: “This is stunning. Nobody ever gets the vision until it's completed.”
Paint colour revealed
Kelsea did not disclose the total cost of the renovation, but in follow-up TikTok videos she revealed the “most asked question” was about the paint colour. She confirmed it was Valspar's 'Espresso Escape' paint, priced at around £24, and recommended it to anyone considering a similar refresh.
