Edinburgh International Film Festival
The world's oldest continuously running film festival returns from 13 to 19 August with 10 films competing for a £50,000 prize. Highlights include UK premieres of Gregg Araki's I Want Your Sex and Lance Hammer's Queen at Sea, plus talks with Kenneth Branagh, Ewan McGregor, and Bruce Dern. A special screening and club night celebrates Trainspotting's 30th anniversary.

Joji tours arenas from 11 to 16 August, supporting his fourth album Piss in the Wind. John Grant and Richard Hawley reunite at Kelvingrove Bandstand on 10 August to celebrate Patsy Cline. The Galloping Cure, an "opera for the opioid age" by Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek, premieres at the Edinburgh festival from 9 to 12 August. Denys Baptiste, Gary Crosby, and Cassie Kinoshi perform at Bristol Beacon on 8 August.
