Strictly's Shaun Wright-Phillips tipped for Halloween exit

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Shaun Wright-Phillips is the favourite to be eliminated this weekend, according to the latest bookmakers' odds, meaning he could miss out on the show's Halloween Week.

The former footballer and his professional partner Alexis Warr have repeatedly been tipped for elimination throughout the series but have been rescued by viewers' votes each week. Last week, Melanie Walters left the competition after a dance-off against Shaun and Alexis, with the judges choosing to save the pair.

Odds and predictions

Shaun has been given odds of 5/6 for elimination, with Sarah Storey trailing at 15/8. Jaime Winstone sits third at 15/1, while Bethany Antonia faces odds of 12/1. At the other end, Lacey Turner remains favourite to win the Glitterball Trophy at 100/1.

Tabby Stoecker follows in second place at 66/1, with John Nellis third at 50/1. Dani Dyer is fourth at 25/1, risking a missed finals berth, reports the Daily Star.

Bookmaker's comment

Betway's Lewis Knowles said: "Shaun Wright-Phillips is the favourite to be eliminated once again at 5/6, but he continues to defy his odds and dodge the exit."

"Sarah Storey is currently second favourite to leave at 15/8, so if Shaun manages to survive yet again, she could find herself in trouble. Jaime Winstone is next in the betting at 15/2, but there's still a sizeable gap between her and the top two so it would be a shock to see her go, but it's not impossible."

"Shaun has become one to watch, with his repeated escapes keeping everyone guessing. If he manages to pull it off again, Sarah could be the one who finds herself in the firing line next."

Delta Goodrem's absence

Delta Goodrem will be absent from this weekend's show following a rib injury, meaning her dance partner Kai Widdrington also withdraws.

She said in a statement: "I'm absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won't be able to dance on Strictly this week. I've been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking - especially after the high of Saturday night."

"I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show. I'm going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I'll be back on that dancefloor very soon. Thank you so much to everyone for all the love and support. It's so appreciated. I'll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week! Sending all my love, Delta xx."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 6.15pm on BBC One.
