Strictly Come Dancing star Lawrence Robb has sparked "dark horse" comments during Icons Week after his routine impressed the judging panel. The actor, best known for playing Mackenzie Boyd on Emmerdale, has swapped the Yorkshire Dales for sequins and sparkles as he takes on the dance competition.
He is joined by many other famous faces hoping to win the coveted Glitterball Trophy from reigning champions Karen Carney and Carlos Gu.
Icons Week Performance
On Saturday (October 17) night, it was Icons Week and Lawrence dressed up as singer Ricky Martin ready to take on the Salsa. Partner Jowita Przystal threw in daring lifts and moves for their routine, and the confidence boost in Lawrence was noted by the judges.
Scoring his highest yet with 30 points, Anton Du Beke told him to not perform any less than that from now, highlighting how much he's improved already. Craig Revel Horwood also noted that due to his performance skills, the show would not be the same without him.
Viewers React
Whilst there are still many weeks to go before the glittering final, fans are already deciding who the dark horse of this year's Strictly competition could be. After Lawrence's performance some viewers at home are convinced it could be him.
On X, one viewer wrote: "Excuse me? Lawrence Robb as dark horse? Absolutely". Another viewer added: "LAWRENCE FINALLY HAS ARRIVED. THIS IS IS THE LAWRENCE I WANNA SEE GOING FORWARD" as a third penned: "that was definitely lawrence’s best dance so far and jowita is the queen of lifts".
Delta Goodrem Sits Out
Unfortunately, Delta Goodrem will not be performing this week as it was confirmed that a rib injury had prompted doctors to advise her to rest, but will hopefully return next week. Delta said in a statement, released on Monday (October 12): "I’m absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won’t be able to dance on Strictly this week. I’ve been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking – especially after the high of Saturday night. I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show."
It was said at the time that she would focus on rest and recovery and hopes to "be back on that dancefloor very soon". Delta thanked people for "all the love and support", adding: "I’ll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week!"
