Liverpool welcomed a free, family-friendly zipline through the city centre this weekend. The EE Fast Lane experience included a zipline, interactive games and prize giveaways from 10am until 6pm on Saturday, October 17.
Guests had the chance to win prizes, including England match tickets, signed shirts and Wembley concert passes. Throughout the day, people of all ages were able to hop on the zipline and whizz through the air at Thomas Steers Way in Liverpool ONE.
EE Fast Lane Launch
The activation came as EE celebrated the launch of Fast Lane, which was designed to help customers stay connected when network demand was high in busy places.
Across Liverpool ONE, the Three mobile store was set to receive a drastic image overhaul. A planning application filed with Liverpool City Council requested permission for advertising to be displayed across the store, while vinyl had already been put up in the shopfront windows.
Vodafone Takes Over Three Store
Vodafone paid £4.3bn to acquire the remaining 49% of VodafoneThree, giving it full ownership of the UK's largest mobile operator. The deal came just over a year after Vodafone UK and Three UK completed their merger, following conditional approval from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
The merger reduced the UK mobile market to three major network operators: VodafoneThree, BT/EE and Virgin Media O2 (VMO2).
New Look for Three Store
Vinyl was put up in the Liverpool ONE Three store's windows as Vodafone prepared to take over the premises. Text on the windows read: "We're getting a new look – and it's big! We are busy upgrading [...] bringing the best of Three and Vodafone together. More choice, same great service."
The planning proposals included removing Three's signage in favour of Vodafone's famous bright red branding and quotation mark. A reopening date had yet to be announced.
