Stephen Graham had one special person on his mind as he celebrated a triumphant night at the Golden Globes: his wife and co-star, Hannah Walters. The actor's critically acclaimed Netflix drama, 'Adolescence', swept the board with four major awards, making it the most successful television show of the ceremony.
A Night of Celebration and Dedication
Graham, 52, took home the award for Best Male Actor in a TV Drama for his powerful performance in the hard-hitting limited series. In an emotional acceptance speech, he paid a heartfelt tribute to his wife of 17 years, Hannah, who also stars as his on-screen spouse and served as an executive producer on the project. "I've said it before, but you saved my life," Graham told the audience, crediting her with turning his life around since their marriage in June 2008.
The couple, clearly elated, were later spotted dancing the night away at the official Netflix afterparty held at Spago in Beverly Hills. Hannah looked glamorous in a metallic dress, while Stephen sported a blue shirt and dark trousers as they celebrated with their fellow cast and crew.
Historic Wins for Young Co-Star
The success of 'Adolescence' was a collective effort. Erin Doherty won Best Supporting Actress, while 16-year-old Owen Cooper made history by winning Best Supporting Actor. Cooper's win marks him as the youngest actor ever to receive this honour at the Golden Globes, and the second-youngest male winner in the awards' history.
Currently studying for his GCSEs, Owen has enjoyed a meteoric awards season, having also won at the Critics Choice Awards and the Emmys for his role as Jamie Miller, which he filmed at just 14. His proud father, Andy, was visibly moved in the audience.
The show's crowning achievement was winning the top category of Best Limited TV Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for TV. Co-creator Jack Thorne delivered the acceptance speech, praising the young cast and clarifying the show's message: "It's about the filth and the debris we have laid in their path."
An Afterparty of Stars
The celebrations continued into the night, with the 'Adolescence' team mingling with other A-list guests. Owen Cooper was pictured with 'The Bear' star Jeremy Allen White, while the group, including co-star Ashley Walters and creator Jack Thorne, shared their joy. The series' success has sparked rumours of potential future projects, following its unprecedented critical acclaim.
The 2026 Golden Globes also saw major film wins, with 'One Battle After Another' leading with four awards, including Best Picture - Comedy or Musical, and 'Hamnet' winning Best Picture - Drama. In television, 'The Pitt' won Best TV Series - Drama, and 'The Studio' won Best TV Series - Musical or Comedy.
