On Wednesday, August 12, the UK will witness a rare solar eclipse, the fullest visible in the country for the next 54 years, alongside an exceptional six-planet parade of Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, and one of the most potent new moons of the year. The Perseid meteor shower, which has been lighting up skies since July 17, will also peak that night.
Astrologers identify most affected signs
Two astrologers, Joanne Jones of Trusted Psychics and Israel Ajose of Sacred Planets, spoke exclusively about the significance of the day. Both agreed that four zodiac signs — Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio — will experience the maximum impact.
Israel explained: “A New Moon, a Solar Eclipse and a powerful Leo alignment are all happening at once, making this one of the biggest astrological moments of the year. New Moons are all about fresh starts, Solar Eclipses speed up change, and Leo puts the spotlight on leadership, identity, creativity and being seen.”
What each sign can expect
Israel noted that Leos might reinvent their image or start something new, Aquarians could see shifts in relationships, Taureans may notice changes at home or with family, and Scorpios could face career moves or a new direction at work.
Joanne added that for Leo, the eclipse lands in their first house of identity, raising questions about who they are when not performing for loved ones. For Aquarius, it falls in the seventh house of partnerships, exposing gaps in relationships, but she advised against ultimatums or big decisions in the days around the 12th. Taureans will see home and family life illuminated, while Scorpios face a professional reckoning, with a caution to hold off on major announcements.
Colours to wear and avoid
Joanne cautioned against wearing all black or very dark tones at the point of the eclipse, as many traditions believed dark colours could trap energy meant to be released. Instead, she and Israel recommended warm golds, yellows, ambers, and oranges — Leo’s colours — to work with the day’s energy.
Both astrologers advised avoiding big decisions and snap reactions. Israel said, “Astrologically, eclipses are about awareness, not fear. It's best to avoid snap decisions, acting out of pride, or fighting changes that need to happen.”
How to harness the energy
Joanne suggested lighting a candle in a warm gold or amber colour, sitting quietly, and writing an honest, unfiltered letter to yourself about where you’ve been performing rather than being real. Fold it and revisit after the lunar eclipse on August 28.
Israel recommended clearing out your home or workspace to make space for fresh opportunities, taking quiet time to reflect on new chapters, and jotting down goals. He added that meditation or getting outside can keep you grounded, and urged individuals to let events play out and stay open to what comes their way.
