Richard Hammond will return to The Grand Tour reboot next month, making cameo appearances alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May to help new presenters settle in. The move follows his purchase of a £2 million Georgian manor house on the outskirts of Abergavenny, Wales, at the start of the year, after his split from his ex-wife of 23 years.
New life in Abergavenny
Hammond has started afresh in his new home, but he will be returning to old territory for the Prime Video hit, easing YouTube stars Thomas Holland and James Engelsman, as well as viral TikTok star Francis Bourgeois, into their hosting duties. Fans can expect The Grand Tour's return on Friday, September 4.

Born on December 19, 1969, in Solihull near Birmingham, Richard Hammond is now 56 years old. After spending the first part of his life in Solihull, his family relocated to Ripon, North Yorkshire, during the mid-1980s.

Richard Hammond was married to journalist Mindy Etheridge for 23 years, and they share two adult daughters, Izzy and Willow. 2006 accident
Hammond was recording a Top Gear episode at Elvington Airfield near York in 2006, where he was attempting to break the British land speed record in a jet-powered Vampire dragster. He was travelling at almost 320mph when a tyre failure triggered the vehicle to flip and roll. Hammond suffered a life-threatening frontal lobe brain injury and spent two weeks in a medically induced coma. In 2014, he opened up about the long-term impact of the crash that nearly killed him, sharing that he had lost the "ability to connect emotionally".
"It was a lot to deal with. I had a pretty tricky few years", he told Radio Times. "The knock-on effects of the injury meant I was susceptible to depression, obsession, compulsion and paranoia, although I wasn't aware of that at the time. It gave me an unnatural platform from which to observe my own mental state, which was exhausting."
