Andrzej Morozowski, a beloved Polish radio and TV presenter, has died at the age of 69 after a long battle with cancer. He was best known for his work on TVN24, where he hosted the popular show Tak Jest.
Career and Legacy
Morozowski also worked in television in the 1990s, hosting shows like Political Graffiti and Ring. TVN24 announced his death on August 4, stating: "After a long illness, Andrzej Morozowski died on Tuesday at the age of 69. He used to say about interviews that the seemingly easiest conversations were the most difficult. He worked at TVN24 from the very beginning and for years was one of our most important journalists."
Absence and Return
The star had been absent from TVN24 for more than six months while battling cancer but was able to return on a part-time basis after undergoing treatment.
Tributes from Colleagues
Tributes have flooded in for the broadcaster. His former employer tweeted: "After a long illness, Andrzej Morozowski passed away on Tuesday at the age of 69. Farewell, friend."
His co-star Tomasz Sianecki recalled: "In the mid-1990s, Andrzej was the first person to walk around the Sejm with a [mobile phone]. He walked around and was very proud. It's no secret that this was how prestige was built."
Monika Olejnik, who also worked with Andrzej, said: "I was terribly jealous of him. One time I asked him to let me call the editorial office. Andrzej, who was very kind, said he couldn't because president Andrzej Woyciechowski [founder of Radio Zet] would murder him for [letting her use the phone]."
Personal Tragedy and Strength
Throughout his life, Andrzej faced personal tragedy, especially when his son Jan was born "seriously ill." The child spent four months in the Children's Health Centre, and Andrzej said he and his wife Agata Nowakowska were "shocked by the terrible conditions there."
He reflected on the experience: "I think that since then we've known how much we can count on each other. Fortunately, everything ended well, and what remains is the knowledge that we can get through difficult times together."
