An 18-year-old cyclist is recovering in a Chinese hospital after a collision with a lorry during a 6,000-mile charity ride. Dyfan Hughes suffered head, neck and leg injuries and remains in a medical facility in China, according to North Wales Live.
Charity Ride from Wrexham to Thailand
Dyfan was cycling with friends Louis Dennis, 19, and James Thomas, 19, from Llangollen, North Wales. The trio had reached China when the crash occurred. The ride was organised in memory of Tony Edge, father of their friend Harrison, who died after a heart attack in 2024. Proceeds go to the British Heart Foundation.

In a Facebook update, Louis and James said: "As you know, last week Dyf got into an unfortunate accident on the road with a lorry and we would just like to start by thanking everyone for their kind messages and donations, it really means a lot to us."
They added: "Now, the full extent of the injuries and the road to recovery are still unknown but we're going to try and update you as much as we can."
Family and Fundraising
Dyfan's parents flew out immediately and have been at his bedside. The friends said he is "bright and alert and in good spirits" and has been well looked after in hospital. More than £50,000 has been raised for the charity so far, and donations continue to be accepted.
