The National Television Awards 2026 take place at London's O2 on Tuesday night, September 8, with ITV broadcasting the ceremony live from 8pm until 10.30pm, when the nightly news bulletin airs. Viewers can watch on ITV1 or via the streaming platform ITVX.
This year marks the 31st edition of the ceremony, which was first held at Wembley Conference Centre in 1995, hosted by Eamonn Holmes, with Robson Green, Anna Friel, and Michael Barrymore among the winners.
Presenter Returns for Sixth Year
Joel Dommett is returning to host the NTAs for the sixth time. The comedian, known for presenting The Masked Singer, taking part in prank show Celebrity Sabotage, and often filling in on This Morning, has hosted the ceremony since taking over from David Walliams in 2020.
Last year, Dommett kicked off the evening by performing with UK band McFly. The presenting role has previously been held by Sir Trevor McDonald, who presented 14 of the 30 editions, more than any other presenter, before stepping away in 2008. Dermot O'Leary hosted from 2010 to 2019, and David Walliams hosted in 2020.
Key Categories and Nominees
In the Best Presenter category, Ant and Dec are up against Sir David Attenborough, Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman, and Stacey Solomon. Last year, Ant and Dec's 23-year winning streak ended when Gary Lineker won the award.
Coronation Street is looking to win Best Soap for the first time since 2021. The full list of nominees includes categories such as Reality Competition, New Drama, Quiz Show, Authored Documentary, Returning Drama, Comedy, Drama Performance, The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award, Serial Drama, Factual Entertainment, Daytime, and Talent Show.
Nominees for Reality Competition include I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, Race Across the World, The Celebrity Traitors, and The Traitors. The New Drama category features A Woman of Substance, Believe Me, Heated Rivalry, I Fought The Law, and The Other Bennet Sister.
The Quiz Show category includes Ant & Dec's Limitless Win, Michael McIntyre's The Wheel, Richard Osman's House of Games, The 1% Club, and The Chase. Authored Documentary nominees are Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, Our Girls: The Southport Families, Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, and Sir Chris Hoy: Cancer, Courage and Me.
Returning Drama nominees are Blue Lights, Bridgerton, Call the Midwife, Stranger Things, and Trigger Point. The Comedy category features Amandaland, Changing Ends, Last One Laughing, Mrs Brown's Boys, and Not Going Out.
Performance and Entertainment Categories
Drama Performance nominees include Ella Bruccoleri, Judy Parfitt, Ruth Jones, Sheridan Smith, and Vicky McClure. The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award contenders are Gladiators, Michael McIntyre's Big Show, The Graham Norton Show, The Masked Singer, and Would I Lie to You?
Serial Drama nominees are Casualty, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks. Serial Drama Performance nominees include Aaron Thiara, Gareth Pierce, Jeff Hordley, Paul Bradley, and Sue Devaney.
Factual Entertainment features 24 Hours in Police Custody, Gogglebox, Secret Garden, Sort Your Life Out, and The Martin Lewis Money Show Live. Daytime nominees are Good Morning Britain, James Martin's Saturday Morning, Loose Women, Scam Interceptors, and This Morning.
