Mirror launches free daily horse racing pullout

The Daily Mirror is launching a free daily horse racing pullout for its readers, starting August 17. It is the first time in the paper's 123-year history that it has carried a racing supplement every weekday.

What the pullout offers

The Monday-to-Friday pullout will complement the Mirror's award-winning Saturday section. Readers will get more tips, analysis, racecards, insight, exclusive columns, and the latest news and gossip six days a week. The Spotform ratings, much loved by loyal readers, will continue in the racecards, with hopes to publish more Irish cards when space allows.

Key columnists and contributors

The team is led by David Yates, aka Newsboy, the Chief Tipster and Racing Correspondent, who will aim to help readers take on the bookies. Yates will also pen a weekly column featuring forthright opinion, comment, humour, and the odd tip. ITV presenter Oli Bell will write an exclusive column every Tuesday, tackling bigger issues for punters and racing fans. Steve Jones, who writes the Value Scope column on Saturdays, will share his expertise in a Value Scope Extra midweek column, starting Monday and then settling into a regular Wednesday slot.

David Yates said: “A daily pullout has been a long time coming for Mirror readers. It has been talked about for years and has almost happened a few times before. We thought the horse may have bolted [pun intended] but I’m thrilled that we can give our readers more racing pages in the Mirror.”
