McCoist reveals worst Rangers miss vs Hearts at Tynecastle

Ally McCoist has revealed the worst Rangers sitter he ever missed, a tap-in against Hearts at Tynecastle where his feet were 'nailed to the ground'.

McCoist's vivid memory

Out on his own with 355 competitive goals for the Ibrox club, McCoist didn't miss many over the course of his 581 appearances in royal blue. So the ones he did manage to miss the target with stick out, especially for the man himself.

When the talkSPORT host was asked by colleague Andy Townsend which was the most gilt-edged he didn't manage to put away, McCoist was able to paint a vivid picture as one leapt to mind immediately.

The Tynecastle tap-in

"We had the boy that played with Russia and Ukraine, (Oleksiy) Mykhaylychenko, what a player by the way," he said.

"We're playing Hearts at Tynecastle and he goes on one of these runs. He goes through the box and he beats two or three people.

"He's at the left-hand side of the box on his left foot - our left - and I'm standing in the six yard box, in the middle of the goal.

"I've got the biggest tap-in of the whole season. Ever. In history.

"He goes to knock it to me but he hesitates, to do somebody else.

"So he takes a wee hesitation for a split second, then gives me it, but somebody had nailed my feet to the ground.

"It just rolls right in front of me and I can't move my feet! I swear to God I can still see it.

"Wee Stuart McCall looked at me and he says 'Are you alright?'

"Honestly, it was the worst ever. I just couldn't move my feet and this ball rolled right across."
