Lorraine Kelly reveals Hilary Swank's third baby news on ITV

Lorraine Kelly opened her ITV morning programme on Thursday (October 15) with exciting baby news: actress Hilary Swank has announced she is pregnant again.

“Welcome to the show! First up, baby news in Hollywood, as Hillary Swank has announced that she is pregnant again. Her third child at the age of 52,” Lorraine said.

She added: “We have to say it right away, she doesn't look it [52], and clearly, she's an incredibly healthy, healthy woman. And she announced it in a really lovely way.”

Announcement via Instagram

Lorraine then passed over to LA Correspondent Ross King, who revealed: “On Instagram, she announced that she and her husband, Philip, are expecting their third baby. That's in December.”

“The video's got Hillary, her husband and the two twins are dancing in the dark, and they've got these kind of glow-stick figure body costumes. And then she reveals her baby bump.”

He noted that she had captioned her post: 'A lot of people have been asking, what project I'm doing next? This one releases in December.'

Twin birth in 2023

Ross then said: “The twins, she just had the twins three years ago, back in 2023, she also said she would have had kids earlier but that it now was a magical time in her life, and it was the right time for a myriad of reasons. So congratulations to her.”

Hillary is most recognised for her performances in Clint Eastwood's sports drama Million Dollar Baby in 2004, the romantic comedy P. S I Love You in 2006 and The Hunt in 2020. Over the course of her career, she's collected multiple accolades, including two Golden Glove Awards and a BAFTA nomination.

She revealed on Easter Sunday 2023 that she'd welcomed twins with her husband Phillip Schneider. Taking to Instagram at the time, she wrote: "It wasn't easy. But boy (and girl! ) was it worth it. Happy Easter! Posting from pure Heaven."

Motherhood later in life

Prior to meeting Philip, Hilary was married to Chad Lowe between 1997 and 2007. Last year, Hilary discussed becoming a mum later in life, explaining that while it wasn't something she'd planned, she ultimately welcomed it for several reasons.

She commented: "I would have had kids earlier, I'm not saying I actively waited until 47.." Speaking to Women's Health, she added: "But that was a magical time in my life, when it all culminated. It was the right time for myriad reasons. I'm a very different parent than I would've been, even in my early 40s."

Lorraine Kelly airs Monday to Friday at 9:30am on ITV1.
