Kaia Gerber, 24, is a dead ringer for her supermodel mum Cindy Crawford, 60, in her latest role in Disney+ show The Shards, styled in 80s get-up. The actress has followed in her mother's footsteps, building a reported £4.5m fortune in the fashion industry.
Close Bond and Shared Career
Kaia and Cindy are peas in a pod, with Kaia delighting in following those famous footsteps. She says her mum is her biggest inspiration. At the start of her career, Kaia strutted down the same catwalks, with modelling work for Vogue, Burberry and Prada. Her first job for Versace Kids came when she was just 10.
Kaia knows she has more than just good genes to thank Cindy for. She said: “I saw how hard my mom worked, and the life she made for herself through this career, and that really inspired me.”
Acting Career and High Society
Her acting career is blossoming – she has appeared in American Horror Story and Palm Royale, and now The Shards, which first aired last week. The drama, based on Bret Easton Ellis’s book, is set at an elite prep school in 80s Los Angeles as a serial killer targets teens across the city.
Kaia, whose dad is businessman Rande Gerber, is no stranger to high society. Rande owns tequila brand Casamigos alongside George Clooney, while she counts Kendall Jenner, Taylor Swift and Bella Hadid among her famous friends.
Mum's Pride
Meanwhile, Cindy, who made $6.5million a year at the height of her fame, says Kaia had a passion for fashion from a young age. She said: “When she was little, she and her friends would always want to play dress-up and do photoshoots. They would raid my closet, and I would do their hair and make-up. Kaia always loved it.”
Yet while many think Cindy and her daughter are identical, Kaia is not so sure. She said: “I think she’s just the most beautiful woman inside and out. So if there’s any way that I remind anyone of her, it’s just, like, the largest compliment.”
