New Everton signing Brennan Johnson has delivered a brutal eight-word takedown of talkSPORT hosts Jamie O’Hara and Gabby Agbonlahor. It came after Johnson joined the Toffees from Crystal Palace, with Dwight McNeil heading in the other direction.

O’Hara, 39, played for Spurs between 2005 and 2011 and claimed the deal was like exchanging “c**p for c**p”. Johnson took to Instagram with a post targeting the conversation, with O'Hara and Agbonlahor both apologising since.
He wrote: “Won more than both of these put together.” The new Blues’ star isn’t wrong in his assessment, either. Johnson is a Europa League champion with Spurs and a Europa Conference League winner with Palace.

He also won the Championship play-off final with Nottingham Forest. O’Hara won the League Cup with Spurs in 2008, but Agbonlahor failed to win any major silverware in his career.
The row ignited after Agbonlahor, 39, started comparing Johnson and McNeil. He said: “Sixteen Premier League appearances for Spurs, no goals. Then at Palace, zero goals, one assist. Four yellows in 18 Premier League appearances,” to which O’Hara responded: “That’s not good.”
Apologies and Context
The ex-Villa striker continued: “Dwight McNeil last season, 22 appearances in the Premier League, zero goals, one assist. So, he’s not doing enough as well. Both of them, it’s like, ‘You give us him, and we’ll give you him.’”
That prompted O’Hara to say: “Yeah, we’ll give you c**p and get c**p back,” and the duo then heartily laughed. The former Spurs midfielder then clarified his stance.
He said: “No, I like Dwight McNeil, if I was going to pick, ok, their stats? Fair enough, they ain’t been good enough, but if I was going to look at a player on a football pitch and say, 'Who would I rather? I’d take Dwight McNeil. He’s going to work hard, lovely left foot.”
Speaking to Alan Brazil on talkSPORT on Wednesday, Agbonlahor said: “What did I do wrong? Jamie said c**p for c**p?” to which Brazil claimed the former forward could have "stuck up" for Johnson.
Agbonlahor added: “I want to apologise to Brennan Johnson, but I could not laugh. When someone makes you laugh, Al, it's natural to start laughing.
“But I thought Jamie O'Hara was out of order and I think Jamie needs to apologise, on the 4pm show tonight. I think he has to, he can't say c**p for c**p, I thought Jamie was out of order looking back at that now.”
O’Hara has since claimed that people have taken his statements out of context, stating he was simply passing judgment on the two players’ form last season.
O’Hara responded on X: “This the prob when you only listen to a clip and not full story, we [sic] were talking about Brennan and McNeil stats from last season which were c**p not that they were bad players, I’m a fan of McNeill and also said Brennan has all the attributes but he would admit his season was c**p.”
Transfer Details
The 25-year-old Johnson has signed a four-year contract with Everton just seven months after he arrived at the Eagles for a then-club record £35 million fee from Spurs.
He has been capped 45 times by Wales and has scored seven international goals. Johnson began his career with his home city club, Forest.
After making his senior breakthrough with a loan spell at Lincoln City in 2020/21 he joined Spurs for £47.5million on September 1, 2023 and netted 18 goals in all competitions for the north London side in 2024/25.
Upon completing his switch to the Toffees, Johnson said: “I’m so excited to be here. The club speaks for itself – it’s a massive club and one that when I first heard of the interest, I immediately wanted to come and be part of it.”
McNeil, 26, joined Everton from Burnley for £20m on July 28, 2022, and made 128 appearances for the Blues, scoring 15 goals. An Everton statement said: “Everyone at Everton thanks Dwight for his commitment and effort throughout his time at the club and wishes him all the best for the future.”
