Hollyoaks has revealed details of a forthcoming flashback episode, which is set to expose a secret romance between two characters. The popular soap, which first launched in 1995 on Channel 4, has teased secrets coming to light after a storyline that took place last year.
Flashback episode airs Monday
Scheduled to broadcast on Monday, 19 October, a flashback episode will unveil the romance, with Channel 4 teasing what's to come in a series of first-look images. It's been confirmed that the episode will chronicle Cindy (Stephanie Waring) and Imran's (Ijaz Rana) clandestine love affair, which unfolded a year earlier in LA.
Audiences have grown suspicious about Imran's history, aware that he had a girlfriend prior to Leah for whom he still harbours deep emotions. The identity of this mysterious woman has now been unveiled as Cindy, with the flashback episode, scheduled to broadcast on Monday, poised to expose how their romance began.
Teaser clips hint at affair
In a teaser clip, Hollyoaks cuts to LA, with a caption establishing the flashback occurred one year previously. It features one of the characters stating: "My secret? It started with a painting," reports the Mirror.
Another clip shows Cindy and Imran's relationship hinting at progression. Cindy flirts: "You know, this is starting to feel like an affair." Imran replied: "For us to have an affair, we'd actually have to sleep together." Cindy appears to be weighing it up, as a knowing smile spreads across her face.
Several images have teased their encounter together, including one of them cuddling in bed, while others see them gazing into each other's eyes. Audiences were already aware that Cindy had been in America before returning to Hollyoaks, but it's now been disclosed that she unexpectedly encountered Imran, as their secret is finally poised to surface.
Cast react to flashback filming
This follows actress Steph Waring, who plays Cindy, previously hinting at the flashback episode to Digital Spy. She said: "There was a lot of filming flashbacks of certain things, before we even got started on the LA episode. I found that really tricky to get my head around."
"I was like: 'Where is this going to go? When is this revealed?' Then when we got the LA episode, that's when it all fell into place for me."
Actor Ijaz, who portrays Imran, added: "It was nice to see the puzzles all [come together]. Because it's written so well, and the story is so nicely connected, it helped as well because we were trying to figure out what our characters had got up to whilst they were off screen. Then they put the backstory into place."
Hollyoaks airs Mondays-Wednesdays and is available to watch on Channel 4.
