Emmerdale stars Jeff Hordley and Zoe Henry have launched a joint venture away from the soap, sharing their allotment life on social media. The couple, who play Cain Dingle and Rhona Goskirk, have received support from fans and co-stars.
Couple's history
Jeff and Zoe both joined Emmerdale in 2000, but they first met over two decades ago at drama school, where a romance quickly developed. They live in the Yorkshire Dales with their family and own an allotment together.
Jeff proposed to Zoe in 2002 after she won Best Actress at the Manchester Evening News theatre awards. He said: "I had been planning to propose for some time and thought to myself: 'If she wins today, I'll do it today'. When she won, I leaped out of my seat in front of her."
He added: "Then it dawned on me that her winning meant that I had to propose - and that's when the nerves set in. Fortunately for me, she said yes."
Family life
The couple married in 2003 at Hedingham Castle, with a celebration at the Swan Hotel in Lavenham. Emmerdale co-stars Emma Atkins and Charley Webb attended. They welcomed daughter Violet in 2005 and son Stan in 2008. In 2020, they got a puppy called Ronald, after their dog Rita died in 2024.
New venture
Now, Jeff and Zoe are sharing their allotment life on social media. They wrote: "Welcome! Join us as we show you life on our allotment. We can’t wait to share it with you! Feel free to ask us questions, we might even have the answers!"
In a video featuring them and Ronald, they said: "Hello to all our new followers! So pleased you could join us on this journey!" They asked followers what they'd like to see, joking about Ronald's cameo.
Co-stars showed support, with Laura Norton commenting: "More of Ron please love you both" and Rosie Bentham adding: "Ronald. That’s what we want to see. X"
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
