Emmerdale star Bradley Riches health update after finding lump

Emmerdale star Bradley Riches has reassured fans he is 'more than okay' after being seen wearing a hospital gown in his latest social media post, having undergone tests following the discovery of a lump.

The actor, who joined the ITV soap last year as Lewis Barton, is the first neurodivergent character to appear on the long-running show. He took to Instagram in good spirits, dancing to the Ingrid Michaelson track 'Be OK'.

What Bradley Riches said

In the caption of his post, he wrote: "Hey guys! I’m doing more than okay! As some of you know I found a new lump in my neck, so I got it checked out and it’s all being sorted. The community I have on here means the world and your love is everything to me!"

He added: "And a massive thank you to @pallmallmedical for being absolutely amazing throughout! Consider this your little reminder, divas: check your bodies! If you notice anything that feels different or unusual, don’t ignore it - go and get it checked by your GP. Love ya."

Support from co-stars and fans

He was quickly flooded with messages of love and support. Emmerdale co-star Beth Cordingly wrote: "Love you." Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips replied: "Darling. Dancing as always. Get well super quick. Can’t podcast without you superstar. Oh how I love thee." Hollyoaks star Isabelle Smith said: "sending you all the love."

Fans also shared their well-wishes, with @originforgood commenting: "Very glad to hear you’re okay… and that your dancing skills are intact." @emiily.kayy posted: "So glad all is ok. We love you." @mckennashade_ wrote: "Glad you’re feeling okay, Bradley! Also love how you’re dancing despite the situation, love that for you!" @kosaralhaqim added: "Keep positive and be ok. Lots of love." @superdogkokonis said: "Rocking that gown Brad! Glad all is ok."

Bradley's Emmerdale role and representation

Bradley made his Emmerdale debut last year as Lewis, son of Emma Barton and newcomer Kev Townsend. During his time in the village, he has built a relationship with his older brother Ross Barton, and romance has blossomed between him and Vinny Dingle, which is currently in turmoil after the latter confessed to causing the accident that killed Jimmy King and Dawn Fletcher.

Lewis is the first neurodivergent character on Emmerdale, and Bradley has opened up about the realities of being autistic and the importance of representation. He previously shared: "As an autistic actor, stepping into this role feels deeply personal- finally getting to bring my whole self to the screen, without masking, without shrinking."

He added: "It’s a reminder of how real burnout and masking can be, and how important it is to show those layers with honesty and care. I’m proud, I’m seen, and I’m so incredibly grateful to help tell a story that means everything to me."
