Dhamaka in Cramlington has been named Restaurant of the Year for the North East at the English Curry Awards, which took place earlier this week in Wolverhampton. The award recognises the best curry venues across England, and Dhamaka triumphed in its category ahead of two other regional contenders.
Recognition for North East venues
Spice Garden in South Shields was recognised for Excellence, while Lal Khazana in Alnwick received an Outstanding Award. The ceremony also saw Simla on the Quayside, which has been operating for 45 years, take the crown for Best Restaurant in Newcastle.
The English Curry Awards, now in their 15th year, are viewed by many in the industry as 'the Oscars of the curry world'. They celebrate restaurants, chefs, takeaways and hospitality professionals from across the country.
