Delta Goodrem delivered a powerful performance of her entry 'Eclipse' during the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, securing Australia's place in the grand final for the first time since 2023.
A Dazzling Performance
Standing before a glistening crescent moon and adorned in more than 7,000 Swarovski crystals, Goodrem captivated the audience with a note-perfect rendition of her power-ballad. The performance featured wind, fire, and her remarkable upper range, culminating in a key change as she was lifted into the air on a platform rising from her bedazzled piano.
Australia's Eurovision Journey
Australia first appeared at Eurovision in 2014 as an interval act. Last year, Go-Jo failed to progress with 'Milkshake Man', and in 2024, Electric Fields made history by performing in Yankunytjatjara but also did not advance. Goodrem's qualification marks a turnaround after disappointing years.
Competition Context
Only 35 countries are competing in 2026, the lowest since 2003, due to boycotts by Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Slovenia, and the Netherlands over Israel's participation. Goodrem entered as an early favourite behind Denmark and Finland.
Goodrem announced her seventh studio album, 'Pure', set for release on 6 November. The Eurovision grand final airs on SBS On Demand from 5am AEST on Sunday 17 May.
