Chelsea Edge, best known for her role in BBC's Death in Paradise, has joined the cast of Emmerdale as DS Ramsden, a detective investigating the death of Dr Caitlin Todd.
Character Arrival and Investigation
DS Ramsden arrived in Tuesday's (August 11) episode, convinced she is not getting the full story from Charity (Emma Atkins) and her granddaughter Sarah (Katie Hill). The detective is determined to uncover the truth about what happened.
This week, Dr Todd was accidentally killed by Sarah after witnessing a showdown with Charity. The pair enlisted the help of newcomer Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) to plan how to explain the incident to police.
Actress Background
Edge played Sophie Chambers in Death in Paradise, appearing in seven episodes from 2022 to 2023. Her character was a backpacker who began a romance with DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little) but later framed him for the death of criminologist David Cartwright (Patrick Kennedy).
Her other TV credits include the Sky comedy Brassic, 2020's I Hate Suzie, and the BBC drama Reunion, which aired last year.
Previous Comments
Speaking previously about her Death in Paradise character, Edge said: "When you go on holiday you have a little crush and you know it's not going to last forever. But I think she has such a soft spot for him and coming away from it – she's trying to be a realist – coming back, she's like, 'How have I left this incredible island and this guy I really like.' She doesn't want to let it go."
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
